Outback hosted ATV Winter Run

Outback hosted ATV Winter Run

Miramichiers are known to embrace the winter. Recently the Miramichi Outback Trail Runner ATV Club (MOTR)  hosted an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) winter run.  With temperatures dipping to the -20 in the morning the club executive wondered how many would actually attend. There wasatv-run much work in the preparation for this event, as many of the trails received damage of trees hanging over and broken on the trails. Due to the countless hours of many volunteers the trails were in great form for the run.

By mid day it was realized the cold did not stop ATVers from attending. At the end of the day over 90 all-terrain vehicles travelled from Miramichi to Baie St. Anne.  David Olsen President of the MOTR was overwhelmed with the number of vehicles that showed up.  Reported was riders from Halifax, N.S. Cape Pele, locally we had representatives from Blackville, Rogersville, and Baie Ste Anne, Douglastown and plus many of our own members. Over and over Olsen heard reports on how great the condition of the Miramichi trails were.

img_20170204_123301“When you look at a monetary value that’s close to a million dollars in inventory at one run.” stated Olsen as he scanned the field of ATVs at one of the warming stations.  When you take into consideration of the cost of the vehicle, gas, hotels accommodations, meals purchased, winter gear, trucks and trailers it make a sufficient impact on the local economy. This is a great boost to the local economy in the midst of winter.
In addition to the economic spin offs, many riders was able to see some of nature’s beauty with the ice laden trees, enjoyed a great social day and was physically active. All benefits that our community as a whole receives. President Olsen would also like to thank everyone who came and participated and the many volunteers which helped to host a great day.
